Pilot light goes out after the water heater has been running for a few minutes.

I have a Master Plumber Reliance 501 Gas hot water heater. It is give or take 15 years old and have never had a problem with it. Came home yesterday and the hot water was warm.

Went and checked and the pilot light was off. I relit it and turned it on and it ran for a few minutes and then went out. I relit it several times and when I let release the pilot button it would go out. I let it sit for a while and went back and tried and it lit, stayed lit and turned the gas on and it started heating. It heated for about 10 minutes and then went out.

The water heater will work perfectly for days and then the pilot will go out. It will relight and will go through some cycle. This has happened three times in 2 1/2 weeks. This is a new water heater. My 23 yr old heater never went out. Reliance has sent me a thermopile assembly

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to this topic? I changed out my thermocouple and igniter. I light the pilot, and it will stay on and warm up the water. After about ten to fifteen minutes it shuts off. The pilot will not come back on. I have to re-light the pilot.

I am having the same exact problem, I replaced the thermocouple and it lights just fine but goes out after running for several minutes while the water is barely starting to warm up .
